Halloweeeeeeeeeeen

It is halloween again. And as usual the celebration around here stretches out over several days. The kids have been decorating, planning costumes for me to make and talking about halloween for weeks. But the offical celebration began on Sunday (10/25/09) with the city's offical trick or treat time.

The kids love giving out candy (and never seem to notice that since other kids are getting candy they could too).

They loved to see Natalie in her pumpkin costume.

The next phase of our celebration was Monday with pumpkin FHE, complete with dinner in a pumpkin, pumpkin cookies.

and carving jack-o-lanterns

As usual Anna had an adverse reaction to the thought of getting her hands slimy. She seemed to get over it a little when I talked to her about being able to wash her hands afterward.

Wednesday was the last day of school for Allie and Anna this week so the girls wore the halloween skirts I made for them.

Then that night we were off to the big Chili dinner and trunk or treat at church. The kids were sad that Natalie and family didn't end up coming with us, but still had a great time.

At one point during the dinner Jennie was sitting there in her Peguin costume talking on the phone and eating a cookie at the same time.

Anna won one of the pizza certificate prizes from the drawing.

They all got a lot of candy.

I love doing the trunk or treat at church. It is so much fun to get together and know all the kids coming to you for candy (not to mention how much safer it feels to get candy from people you know instead of people you don't know).

I found it very amusing that even after all of that celebrating and all of the previous decorating the kids thought we should decorate more on Friday because the next day was actually halloween.

On halloween (Saturday) we went to our city's annual spooky city halloween event. Anna marched in the costume parade

and then we visited the local businesses for trick or treats. It is such a great tradition, especially since the other community trick or treating is always scheduled on Sunday.
