Gardening Attempts

I am far from an expert gardener, but I try. The girls loved planting their own vegetable and watching it grow.

I chose tomatoes, ironic since I don't like them. But they sure make yummy spaghetti sauce.

Allie planted peas.

Anna planted carrots.

The "salad" that Jennie planted never grew, but she seemed distracted enough by the excitement for the zucchinis and pumpkin that grew.

So I will keep trying to get better at gardening. But no matter how much grows or doesn't, the kids love planting seeds. The are delighted when the first green sprouts poke out of the ground. They are excited to get on their garden gloves and take the shovels to the weeds (at least for a few minutes), they can't wait to fill and refill the watering can and most of all they love watching the vegetables grow and get ripe so they could remind me to pick them. That excitement makes it well worth the effort.

(Even if they don't like eating them in the end.)

Hunting for Treasure

One day Allie and Anna came home from school to a treasure hunt that Chrystal had left for them. Jennie showed them wear to begin and they all worked together to find out where the rest of the clues were. They had a great time even though they kept wanting to skip the clue they were on to clues they found along the way, but they stuck it out...they hunted by the piano,

in the bathroom,

on the TV,

in the silverware drawer

and even way up on the top bunk.

They were so excited when they found the sticker book hidden at the end.

A Trip to the Zoo

10/10/09
We took a nice trip to the zoo. It was beautiful weather so it was great to be outside. The zoo is so alive when the weather is cool.

One of the highlights was watching the baby oragatan.

(Actually, if you ask the girls which was the hightlight of the trip they would probably say that is was learning that bats turn around and actually hang "right side up" with their thumbs so they can go potty.)

Primary Program

10/18/09
The girls each did an incredible job with their parts in the primary program. (I hope to still video each of them.) But it was really fun to have Ann, Sister Anthony Claire, Grandma and Grandpa Rebarchik all come to listen. In Anna's part she talked about going to visit Sister Anthony Claire so Anna wanted to invite her to come and listen. It was great they could all come.

It is so fun to hear Sister read stories to the girls. She doesn't talk much otherwise, but she seems to really enjoy reading stories when the girls ask her to.

Horse Back Riding

9/17/09
The girls were excited to go horse back riding at Sorensens. First they went to get the horse.

After a lesson on which brushes to use and how

the girls set to brushing everything from nose to tail.

They watched while Chrystal expertly clean out his feet and put on the saddle and bridle.

Then Jennie led him into the arena.

They were ready to go...if only they could climb up that high.

They each did a great job! And didn't seem to be all that scared.

And after it was all over, they wished they could try it some more.

Happy girls and a happy horse (getting horse treats!)

What a great time!

Justin's Birthday Party #2

9/19/09
We had a great time at Justin's birthday party at Stonefire Pizza.

We got to play a lot of games and get a lot of tickets for prizes.

They even had rides and other fun things like bumper cars, frog hopper and a big ball play place with cannons and guns to shoot the balls.
